Urge Canada's Prime Minister to put an end to the seal hunt

With more than 317,000 seals killed for their fur in 2005 alone -- 98% of whom were babies under three months of age -- Canada's harp seal hunt is the largest commercial hunt of marine mammals on earth. It is certainly the cruelest.

Although Canadian citizens don't support the seal hunt, the fishing industry and the federal government have refused to end it. With the recent election of Prime Minister Stephen Harper, there is renewed hope that 2006 will be the last year that seals are clubbed and shot to death on Canadian ice for their fur.

As Prime Minister Harper begins his term, we have an unprecedented opportunity to influence the Canadian government and save hundreds of thousands of baby seals.

Please click here to take action today to help end the cruel Canadian seal hunts by sending an e-mail to Prime Minister Harper immediately. Thank you!

Air Force Test

This one will drive you nuts!!

The object of the game is to move the red block around without getting hit by the blue blocks or touching the black walls.

If you can go longer than 18 seconds you are phenomenal.

It's been said that the US Air Force uses this for fighter pilots. They are expected to go for at least 2 minutes.

Give it a try!!

Be it ever so humble...

Well, I'm just about done with unpacking after my move. Now what I have to do is rearrange the many, many, many boxes of Christmas, Halloween, and Thanksgiving decorations. I promise to have pictures of the new place up on webshots very soon.

Mid pleasures and palaces though we may roam,
Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home.
~ John Howard Payne (1791 - 1852)

All Moved In

Well, I'm all moved in. Now all I have to do is dig myself out of all the boxes. This will take a little time but with each box I empty the closer I become to being settled in.

Yesterday my ex brought over Spunky, the little kitten that I fostered last Summer and ended up keeping. She hasn't grown much in size and since she will be a year old in June I don't think she will get much bigger.

Last night was my daughter's first night in the new house. Because of the severe weather that rolled through last night she was a little afraid and was convinced that she wouldn't be able to fall asleep. But she did. She slept through the night without any trouble.

Today’s Irish Blessing
May each petal on the shamrock bring a wish your way...
Good health...Good luck...Happiness
For today and everyday.

Happy International Women’s Day

The true beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure she has or the way she styles her hair. It is in the way she sees herself.

Was Mona Lisa really a beautiful woman? Did it matter? She clearly saw the beauty in herself and Leonardo da Vinci captured the smile that said it - and that made her beautiful to all.

All women have this capacity to be beautiful. Feel serene and peaceful about the woman you are and be proud of your strength, your gentleness, your caring and your passion. Love your capacity to love and take joy in your capacity to feel and give joy.

Know that you are a beautiful woman...and the whole world will see it, too.

Boxes and boxes...

Well, I started moving boxes into my house on Friday evening. I have somehow managed to get the majority over. There are still a few more boxes left but with the help of my friends Megan tonight and Judy on Friday I'm hopeful that the only things left to move will be the furniture. I can't believe that I have that many boxes, even after weeding things out. I think I need to do a little more weeding, but I'll add that to my to do list. The cold that my daughter came down with on Saturday has finally worked it's way into me. But I have to keep going, I'll have plenty of time after the move to rest.

I did it!

Yesterday I closed on my house. I'm so excited to own my own place. After my divorce I thought that I would never own my own house again, that it was only a dream. But dreams can come true, I'm living proof. Now I'm faced with the tedious task of moving boxes over before I move on March 11. My goal is to get as many boxes over so that on the day of the actual move what is left is furniture, my washer and dryer and a few boxes that were too heavy for me to lift. I'll keep you updated.
