And don’t forget that special canine or feline in your life when thinking of ways to recognize the ones you love this month. Those of us who have opened our hearts and homes to a dog or cat know how much the relationship with a cherished animal companion can enrich our lives. Whether they treat us like adoring subjects or expect to be treated like kings and queens, look at us with adoration or indifference, make us feel noble or humble (or both!), nothing makes a home feel more like a castle than sharing it with a dog or cat. In return, the least we can do is ensure these animals receive the royal treatment they so richly deserve.
